At the Vestnorden tradeshow venue, Inussivik, you may notice some people wearing funny hats – and we hope you will join in on the fun!
At the venue, you’ll find 3 different hats getting passed around. Your aim is to wear one of these hats by completing a small task, and to keep it for as long as possible before it’s taken away from you. Fun prizes will be given to the bearer of a hat at random times – so best of luck with this!
Say a word, any word, in Greenlandic to the person wearing this hat and it will be given to you. Put it on. You get to keep it until someone else says a Greenlandic word to you. You’ll then have to pass the hat over to your new potential friend!

21 September at Inussivik
Throughout the centuries, Inuit from Alaska, Canada and Greenland have been doing ‘Inuit Games’ or ‘Arctic Sports’ which are a number of physical endurance and explosiveness skills that were much needed in the harsh life of the Inuit hunters throughout time.
Nowadays, it is still practised in Inuit communities in these 3 countries, and it’s a big part of Arctic Winter Games, which is held every second year in the Circumpolar North.
At the ‘Inussivik’ venue at Vestnorden 21 September you will have the opportunity to try out a handful of these exotic physical disciplines, and at the same time participate in a draw for a voucher of $200 from the Greenland Ruby store in Nuuk Center. You can compete alone, as one of the disciplines is about how high you can kick to hit a ball made out of seal skin – with both of your feet at the same time. Otherwise, you can try out your strength and stamina against an adversary, and get the great honor of beinglisted as a winner on a big whiteboard at the venue!
