NANORTALIK MUSEUM

Nanortalik Museum is beautifully situated in the old colonial port area as an open air museum, covering almost all buildings in the area, most of which are used as showrooms.

The old colonial port area represents a well-preserved historic environment. The area is located at some distance from the new districts, thereby almost completely avoided the new development.

Therefore, one can experience an uninterrupted cityscape from the colonial era.

The development illustrates colony organization with trade buildings at the harbor. Some of the houses are particularly building historically and architecturally prominent.

Some trade buildings are a number of self-build houses. Builder’s houses have historical value, as they tell of past modest housing and living conditions.

Nanortalik Museum has set up open-air museum in the old town, where you see copies of turf huts, summer camp sites, women’s boat with a covered stand and kayak racks, which can be used by kayak association, kayaking reversal exercise room.

In addition, the museum has acquired leather clothes, which are being used by cultural and tourism events.
