Greenland is deepening its tourism connections with North America, following its participation in last week’s The Nordics North American Roadshow — a long-standing collaboration between all 7 Nordic countries designed to connect destinations with key travel industry partners across the continent.
This year, the roadshow made stops in Seattle, Toronto, and New York, where representatives from across the Nordic region met with travel professionals and agents to exchange knowledge, build partnerships, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
Anne Nivíka Grødem, CEO of Visit Greenland says,
“With increased accessibility from North America, we see an opportunity to develop the market targeting adventure tourists who are fascinated by Greenland. This is an opportunity for tour operators to come into direct contact with current and future partners, and listen to their dreams, feedback from this season and gain direct market knowledge.”
Representing Greenland were Travel By Heart, Greenland Travel, Hotel Aurora, and DMC Nordic Greenland, — a mix of experienced participants and first-time attendees keen to expand their networks and showcase the country’s growing tourism potential.
This event was the first major trade gathering in North America since direct flights from New York (Newark) to Nuuk started in June this year. The expansion of air connectivity continues, with United Airlines set to return to Greenland next year, further strengthening travel links between North America and the Arctic nation.
Industry engagement at the roadshow reflected growing interest in Greenland, with buyers ranging from major travel agencies to niche operators eager to learn more about the destination’s sustainable tourism opportunities.
Klaus Dupont Iversen, Hotel Manager, Hotel Aurora, says:
“We experienced strong interest from agents who were already familiar with Greenland, and the conversations led to more concrete agreements than in previous years. The new direct route from New York has clearly boosted interest and opened up new opportunities in the North American market.”
Greenland thanks its Nordic partners for their ongoing collaboration and shared commitment to responsible tourism development across the region.
