It was revealed at a special event during the Vestnorden tourism fair in the Faroe Islands on September 23, 2024.
In addition to the recognition from the Greenlandic tourism industry, the owner of Disko Adventures was presented with a trophy designed by craft artist Kim Kleist-Eriksen and a travel gift card of DKK 10,000 to Air Greenland.
Disko Adventures is a local tour operator run by Danny Mølgaard, Naja Bjerregaard and Steve Broberg. Disko Adventures is based in Qeqertarsuaq, in Disko Bay, offering authentic experiences in the impressive Disko Island. They specialize in providing visitors with a unique combination of scenic adventures and cultural insights, with a focus on communicating Greenland’s rich culture and magnificent nature. As a committed player in responsible tourism, they work closely with the local community to ensure that their activities have a positive impact on the area. Their mission is to deliver high quality and personalized service so that every guest has an unforgettable and authentic experience of Greenland.
Disko Adventures has consciously chosen not to take tourists all the way into the scenic Kuannit area to protect the delicate Kuanneq flower, which is vulnerable to increased traffic. Instead, they offer tours to viewpoints where visitors can enjoy the basaltic mountains and flora from a distance. The decision also shows respect for locals who collect the flowers for cooking. Additionally, Disko Adventures has opted out of investing in ATV/UTV vehicles to protect Qeqertarsuaq‘s fragile vegetation and minimize the impact on nature that attracts tourists to the area.
