Icelandair and Visit Greenland Renew Partnership Amid Expanded Nuuk Connectivity

Reykjavík / Nuuk, 4th June 2025 – As the first MAX 737 landed this week from Keflavik to Nuuk, marking an increase in capacity for flights to Greenland, Icelandair and Visit Greenland are pleased to announce the renewal of their long-standing partnership.

Nuuk, June 4, 2025

Through a newly signed agreement that reaffirms both parties’ commitment to enhancing accessibility and supporting the tourism development of Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland), the renewed collaboration, will run until the end of 2027. Both organisations will work together to improve connectivity and enrich the overall travel experience to one of the world’s most remote and remarkable destinations. Icelandair currently has a strong network to Greenland flying to Nuuk, Ilulissat, Kulusuk and Narsarsuaq.

Significant Increase in Capacity for Nuuk

From this May, Icelandair will substantially expand its operations to Nuuk, Greenland’s capital, with a planned 120% increase in seat capacity for 2025. This expansion underlines the growing interest in Greenland as a destination.

Anne Nivika Grødem, CEO of Visit Greenland, comments:

“Visit Greenland is invested in creating tourism that delivers nationwide value—for our local communities, the industry, and our international guests. With improved connectivity, there is renewed potential for tourism to grow in a broader and more sustainable way, and we are committed to developing this in collaboration with our partners.”

Bogi Nils Bogason, President and CEO of Icelandair:

“Greenland is an important and growing market for Icelandair, and we are proud to build on our successful partnership with Visit Greenland. By connecting our four destinations in Greenland to our extensive route network via Iceland, we can offer some of the best connections between Greenland and our 60 destinations in Europe and North America.”
