Press release
If you are tired of negative comments, Facebook warriors and long response times to emails, then Travel Trade Forum is the medium for you. It is a new online forum for Greenland’s tourism industry that has been created at the request of local tourism operators, who have missed a closed platform where they can easily, quickly and professionally communicate with each other – local companies as well as international agents who sell Greenland.
“Forum is the first step towards a better dialogue in the tourism industry – a dialogue in which we are free from the negative things that often come along with social media, such as personal attacks and derogatory comments. With this platform, it will be easier to separate private and working life in a more systematic way, and local and international companies will have a meeting place where they can help and support each other. We are really proud to be able to contribute to this,” says Visit Greenland’s new director, Hjörtur Smárason.
You can get a quick introduction to the platform and its features in this video.

For a while, Visit Greenland has been testing the structure and features of the Travel Trade Forum with members of the tourism industry, to ensure that Forum has exactly the features they are looking for. Sarah Woodall, Destination Manager for Visit South Greenland, has been involved in testing Forum, and is very pleased with the final result:
“We are really happy about Forum, as it gives the tourism industry an organised and professional platform for exchanging ideas with other operators. Here we can discuss and share with each other in a comfortable environment – about everything that relates to tourism planning and development. In this way, we only need to use social media channels for finished content which is targeted at tourists,” says Sarah Woodall.
