Two Green Keys in Nuuk

Learn more about Green Key

In February 2022, Greenland went from having 1 Green Key certified Hotel to having 3, as Hotel Hans Egede and HHE Express obtained their certification.

“We are happy and proud that both our hotels are now Green Key certified,” says CEO Jørgen S. Bay-Kastrup. “We must all take part in ensuring a sustainable lifestyle, we owe it to the coming generations and our guests expect it.”

Green Key is an international eco-label for tourism, that guides companies’ on reducing their negative environmental footprint, improving working conditions and local cooperation.

For the two hotels in Nuuk, the certification has resulted in a greater focus on reducing food-waste, increasing the number of local suppliers, banning single use plastic, reducing electricity, water, and paper consumption, and launching small internal employee competitions to reach new goals in a funny and collegial manner.

Becoming certified is, therefore, in many ways a recipe for optimising your business in obtaining better results, economically, socially and environmentally, safeguarding generations to come.
