The relaunched website improves access to local experiences by showcasing operators more clearly across the site – for example, featuring dog sledding providers directly on dog sledding pages, and highlighting operators based on geographic relevance. A new dedicated operator overview page also makes it easier to browse and filter providers across the country. The changes are designed to help media, tour operators and of course the tourist to quickly identify relevant information such as experiences and contacts.
“These upgrades help ensure that even Greenland’s most remote communities can stand out online,” says Anne Nivíka Grødem, CEO of Visit Greenland. “We want to make it easy for people to find the dedicated operators and incredible experiences that define our destination – and to shine a spotlight on the passionate tourism sector behind them.”
Greater exposure for around 200 local tourism operators
In recent years, the country’s tourism sector has grown significantly, with more local businesses joining the industry. They are now connected to more than half a million annual users who use Visit Greenland’s website as a central point of entry for travellers planning a visit to the country. Using automated machine translation, the platform reaches a broader international audience faster by making information available in Danish, English and German.
The updated website is an important step in the ongoing effort to strengthen tourism development in Greenland in a professional and responsible way – creating value for visitors and for Greenlandic communities alike. The relaunch comes as new international flight routes to Greenland open this summer and marks a timely upgrade to how the destination is presented online.
