Visit Greenland’s board of directors has just extended the contract with Anne Nivíka Grødem for a new three-year period. The extension is intended to ensure continuity in the management at a time when the organization is entering a new strategic period with the focus on strengthening the role and value of tourism in the Greenlandic society.
Board Chairman Anette Lings emphasizes in this connection that since Anne Nivíka Grødem accession in 2022, she has been a unifying and driving force in the organization’s development. She has worked purposefully to position Greenland as a responsible and attractive travel destination – both nationally and internationally – and has shown great understanding of how tourism can be developed with respect for Greenlandic values and contribute to the long-term development of society.
With the contract extension, the Board of Directors wants to ensure the managerial anchoring necessary to realize Visit Greenland’s strategic goals in a time of great development and increased attention to tourism in Greenland. Anette Lings emphasizes that Anne Nivíka has played a central role in shaping the organization’s new 10-year strategy, published in May, and that the board has great confidence in her ability to continue this work in close collaboration with the board, organizations, and stakeholders across the country.
The director herself is ready to continue to take on her task and look forward to executing the new strategic objectives into long-term value creation in Greenlandic society: “I am grateful for the trust the board has shown in me and proud to lead an organization with such great commitment and professionalism. Tourism in Greenland has enormous potential and with consideration and based on Greenlandic values and realities, we have good opportunities to develop it for the benefit of the entire country. It requires dialogue and cooperation with the citizens, the industry and authorities – and I am very much looking forward to continuing this work,” says Anne Nivíka Grødem.
