Arctic Circle Race is a 160 km cross country ski race that has been called the world’s toughest cross-country skiing race, and for good reason.
For almost two decades skiers from all over the world have competed against each other in the classic cross-country discipline. 160 kilometres over a period of 3 days with overnight stays in tents in the wilderness – sometimes in temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees C.
The race is held around Sisimiut, on Greenland’s west coast, in the midst of magnificent scenery. Surrounded by endless snow-clad landscapes and by the warmth and helpfulness of the many volunteers and other competitors, the skiers head out into the arctic winter landscape year after year.
