Towards More Tourism, Visit Greenland Tourism Strategy 2021-2024
A joint venture for growth, innovation and responsible tourism
DEAR READER,
It is with great pleasure that we can present Visit Greenland’s new strategy for 2021-2024 “Towards More Tourism”.
During the previous 2016-2018 strategy period, Greenland experienced growth in international overnight stays (incl. DK) of 10.8%, a growth in the number of international air passengers (incl. DK) of 3.3%, as well as a significant increase in the number of cruise passengers of 88.7%.
With this positive development, it is now time to look ahead to 2024.
With the prospect of greater accessibility to Greenland in the coming years, it is, of course, crucial that together with increased tourism, we take good care of our nature and our small communities in the towns and settlements.
Therefore, through dialogue and collaboration with all business stakeholders, we will ensure that Greenland’s tourism development is based on a sustainable approach. For tourism must contribute to the positive development of our society, both for tourists and locals through economic growth, employment and more opportunities for experiences.
Sustainability is a consistent theme throughout Visit Greenland’s strategy, and it is with great pleasure that with this strategy, we also introduce Visit Greenland’s efforts concerning selected Sustainable Development Goals.
We hope you find it an interesting read.
