Why Pledge?

This Pledge reflects the priorities and desired futures of Greenland’s tourism sector. It marks a first step in unfolding the sustainable tourism and travel path of Greenland. Our Pledge sets the tone and direction of our future collaboration, and we hope you will join us in our shared commitment towards better tourism.

LEARN HOW THE PLEDGE STARTED

For three days in April 2023, the tourism sector and industry of Greenland came together to discuss the future of tourism to Greenland, and the path and priorities of shifting towards better tourism. The discussions during the TBT conference, and the shared priorities and desired futures that came out of it, have shaped Our Pledge Towards Better Tourism.

Our pledge

As Greenland opens more windows to the world, and welcomes more visitors to our country, we look towards a new future of tourism, and how we as Greenland’s tourism sector can move towards better tourism for and by all of Greenland.

We reflect on our oldest tale of sustainability, a tale of Sassuma Arnaa – Mother of the Sea, and we come together in our commitment to always develop tourism in balance with nature, people, and culture. Our Pledge Towards Better Tourism embraces the five themes;

  • Piujuartitsineq | Sustainability
  • Sila | Weather
  • Tapersersoqatigiinneq | Support
  • Aqqutissiuusseqataaneq | Create better opportunities
  • Suleqatigiinneq | Work together
